The Way of Emptiness
Observing into freedom, in the depth of practice, saw that the five aggregates are empty, and so crossed beyond all suffering.
The five aggregates are all empty.
Form is not other than emptiness, emptiness not other than form; form is emptiness, emptiness is form. So too are feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness.
诸法空相,不增不减,不垢不净,不生不灭,不来不去;不一不异,不常不断;
All things bear the mark of emptiness: neither increasing nor decreasing, neither defiled nor pure, neither arising nor ceasing, neither coming nor going, neither one nor many, neither permanent nor cut off.
如梦幻泡影,如露亦如电;
Like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow; like dew, and like lightning.
All is made by mind alone, and the five aggregates all arise from it. All arises through causes and conditions; lacking self-nature, it is therefore empty.
空中无色,无受想行识;无眼耳鼻舌身意,无色声香味触法;无眼界,乃至无意识界。无无明,亦无无明尽;乃至无老死,亦无老死尽;
In emptiness there is no form, no feeling, perception, volition, or consciousness; no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no form, sound, scent, taste, touch, or object of mind; no realm of sight, on through to no realm of mind-consciousness. There is no ignorance and no end of ignorance, on through to no aging-and-death and no end of aging-and-death.
There is no suffering, no origin, no cessation, no path; no wisdom, and no attainment.
以无所得故,心无挂碍;无挂碍故,无有恐怖;
Because there is nothing to attain, the mind is without hindrance; without hindrance, there is no fear.
Grasping at no appearance, one abides thus, unmoved.
Let the mind arise while dwelling on nothing; if the mind dwells nowhere, it is freed here and now. Far removed from delusion and dreaming, it reaches final Nirvāṇa.
Right view, right intention; right speech, right action, right livelihood; right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration.
Clear discernment of real, joyous engagement in wholesome qualities, profound patience and pure conviction, tranquility of body and peace of mind.
All formations are impermanent; all defilements are suffering; all realities are without self; all appearances are without appearance — and that non-appearance is the true appearance. Do no evil, uphold all good, purify your own mind.
Boundless kindness beyond condition, great compassion of one shared body, immeasurable sympathetic joy, and the equanimity that holds all as equal.
